Firefighters are a family. One large extended family. When one needs help the rest are there providing in any way possible. When it comes to financial assistance the way fire unions are able to help their own is through a benevolent fund. When a union has a benevolent fund set up, these funds can be used to help members in their time of need. The Pint Project works to donate to and assist in establishing benevolent funds to fire unions who need it most. The following story is one reason why we do what we do.
After suffering from a tragic drunk driving accident in 2007 that nearly ended her life, Jessica overcame years of obstacles including learning to walk, using her arm again and learning to rely on her friends, family, and boyfriend JP for day to day tasks. In 2011, Jessica attended a chronic pain program that allowed her to manage her pain and gain her independence back through holistic treatment. Jessica's boyfriend JP stood by her side throughout the process and was her rock when she underwent countless doctors appointments, surgeries, and setbacks. In April 2014 JP proposed to Jessica on the beach in Carlsbad and Jessica could not have been happier. Her dream wedding was held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic church and Twin Oaks Garden Estate on May 9, 2015. Jessica and JP's positivity and glowing spirits were apparent to all guests who had the privilege of attending the magical event. While on their honeymoon in Hawaii, Jessica passed away peacefully in her sleep with JP by her side. The funds from this website will be used to cover the costs of bringing Jessica home from Hawaii and covering funeral expenses for her family. Jessica's resilience and determination will continue to be inspiring for everyone who had the chance to know her.
