As a Fire Captain with NCFD, Ben Garcia is a member of The National City Firefighters Association Local 2744. Ben and his wife Dana have faced very difficult times in recent years related to a medical diagnosis that has led to financial hardship. Through funds raised at this event, The National City Firefighters Association Local 2744 would be able to assist Ben through this crisis using the benevolent fund.
About Ben and Dana:
Ben is a Captain with the NCFD and has been a member for 15 years. Prior to this he worked as a seasonal with CDF. His wife Dana also has strong fire service ties as her father is a retired firefighter and she was a seasonal firefighter with the state.
Five years ago Dana began to have health problems. After much physical pain and financial hardship, Dana was finally diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). EDS is a connective tissue disorder that is not well understood and has no cure.
The large amount of out-of-pocket money required to obtain initial diagnosis and on treatments combined with Dana being unable to work has been devastating, forcing them to sell their home and relocate. After so many years of proudly serving their community, this fire family deserves some help during this difficult time. This event will fund the National City Firefighters Benevolent Fund of which Ben and Dana may receive the help they need.
